                <text>In this paper, attention has been paid to the importance of knowing the exact values of the temperature coefficients used in modeling of four different types of photovoltaic modules these modules are; monocrystalline silicon m-Si, polycrystalline silicon p-Si, amorphous silicon a-Si, and micromorphous silicon thin film μm-Si installed in outdoor conditions in north-central Algeria. The value of the temperature coefficients provided by the module manufacturer in the datasheet is obtained under specific conditions called the standard test conditions STC, but in reality, these conditions vary significantly if the modules are operated in real climatic conditions, this will lead us to recalculate these coefficients again to improve our model using a database collected over a period of one year obtained by our characterization bench of PV modules using a two diodes model. A comparison was made between the simulation and the experimental data of the selected modules using the new values of the calculated temperature and those given at STC conditions, the obtained results show that the use of these new calculated temperature coefficients leads to a reduction of the the Mean Relative error MRE on the annual power from 2 to 7% depending on the PV module's technology which shows the importance of knowing the real value of the temperature coefficients that will be used in the PV module and system modeling.</text>

                <text>This article proposes a model predictive control (MPC) for trajectory tracking of a microrobot in a 2D fluidic environment. The reference trajectory is generated using a joystick device and it is estimated using a Luenberger observer. Assuming that the position of the microrobot is measured, the objective is to design an observer-based MPC control capable to track the reference trajectory generated by a joystick device. To optimize the MPC control, we have introduced a quadratic criterion where these parameters are determined to have a specific behavior of the closed loop system. Finally, simulation results are presented here to show the efficiency of the proposed approach

An accurate fault diagnosis can be performed by using the temperature profile of the electrical equipment surface. Infrared thermograph has gained more attention and becomes an interesting method in electrical fault diagnosis due to its advantages. This paper presents a review of different methods of image segmentation (clustering algorithms) applied to infrared thermograph which has been used to get useful information from electrical equipment of power system for faults detection, classification and localization.

                <text>Risk analysis and assessment are extremely important in the petrochemical sector to prevent potential risks. This study was carried out at Gas platform (unit No 30) of Skikda refinery Algeria, with the aim of predicting and estimating the effects of major explosions in the propane and butane Splitter column and estimating the possible human and environmental consequences of the containment loss. The methodology developed here is based on a combination of HAZOP presentation and PHAST tool. First, HAZOP is used to capture the responsible derivations of operating parameters to produce the worst consequences. Related Causes, safety barriers and some recommendations are carried out in a HAZOP sheet which represents all of that. Then the major scenarios detected by the worst consequences have been studied and modeled by PHAST software. The modeling process is completed by simulating the principal effects (Jetfire, BLEVE, UVCE) resulting from two scenarios in the form of two potential leaks on the bottom and the head of a gas separator column containing butane and propane respectively. The results are shown on the region map to indicate the exact threaten zones. Finally, a comparison in terms of effects between the two scenarios is performed and some conclusions are extracted.

                <text>The Combined Cycle Gas Turbines (CCGT) has encountered a large diffusion over the last decades. Different researchers have focused on performance evaluation of CCGT through mathematical modeling techniques. Hence, there are some important factors which should be respected while modeling the CCGT. These factors include type of different components of the CCGT system, their configuration, the modeling methods, and the purpose of the modeling, the type and structure of the control system and the simulation objectives. Hence, a brief overview about CCGT design and technologies, mathematical modeling, simulation tools and methods are presented in this paper.

                <text>This paper proposes a simple control scheme for UPQC (Unified Power Quality Conditioner) system based on five-level NPC (Neutral Point Clamped) inverter capable to compensate all disturbances under all voltage conditions. The proposed UPQC is designed by the integration of shunt and series APFs (Active Power Filters) sharing a common dc bus capacitor. The dc voltage is maintained constant using proportional integral voltage controller. To get the reference signals for shunt and series APFs, synchronous current detection method (SCD) and instantaneous reactive power (PQ) strategies are adopted. These reference signals are derived from the control algorithm and injected in LS-SPWM (Level Shifted-Sin Pulse Width Modulation) controllers to generate the switching signals. The performance of proposed UPQC system is evaluated using MATLAB-Simulink software and SimPowerSystem Toolbox for all voltage disturbances compensation. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed UPQC system to improve the power quality at the common connection point of the non-linear load in steady and transient conditions operation.</text>

                <text>This paper analyzes the logical accident scenarios in an electrical system model of a nuclear power plant (NPP) using the coupling of fault tree and event tree analysis methods. An Emergency Power Supply System (EPSS) Benchmark of an NPP is used for validation. The safety functions of the EPSS are identified and their failure probabilities are calculated using fault tree method. The obtained results provide various accident sequences triggered by the loss of the main electric connection of the EPSS and their occurrence frequencies. This methodology ensures an efficient sorting of various accident sequences according to their occurrence frequency and end sates.</text>

                <text>As the power system becomes smarter, the difficulty of control is also increasing. Since, load frequency and voltage stability is an important power quality index in power system, any sudden load disturbance will cause the system load frequency and voltage deviation, and as the power system becomes more complex. However, the stability and reliability of the smart power grid are facing great challenges caused by the intermittency and randomness of renewable energies. Nowadays, it is necessary to find a more appropriate control strategy and techniques. Due to the superior anti-interference and anti-coupling ability of the active disturbance rejection control (ADRC), novel applications of this control technique have been developed in smart system.                 <text>Electrical energy is considered to be the heart of modern civilization. Traditional electricalenergy generation approaches which usually rely on oil and its derivatives, produce different kinds of pollution in addition to being expensive to implement and maintain. And most important, they are exhaustible on the long run. The sun is an unlimited source of energy for humanity around the world and a competitive energy with strong potential. The solar systems technology offers a promising method for the large scale use of solar energy in the southern zone of Algeria. The magnitude of solar radiation is the most important parameter for sizing these systems. This study presents a techno-economic feasibility evaluation for an installation of a stand-alone PV system which covers the electric demand of 20 houses in the province of Tindouf located in the South-West of Algeria. The aim is to select the appropriate components and see the results of the simulation using the hybrid simulator iHOGA, which include the total cost, CO2 emissions and their impact on the environment.</text>

                <text>This paper presents unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) system based on three-level neutral point clamped (NPC) using Fuzzy and ANN controllers. The proposed UPQC is able to mitigate source current harmonics and compensate all voltage disturbances. It is designed by the integration of series and shunt active filters (AFs) sharing a common DC bus capacitor. The DC voltage is maintained constant using proportional integral voltage controller. The synchronous reference frame (SRF) theory is used to get the reference signals for the shunt APF and the power reactive theory (P-Q theory) for the series APF.Conventional control schemes require complex calculations, the use of intelligent systems help to reduce the control system size and the operation complexity. The shunt and series active power filter (APF) reference signals derived from the control algorithm are injected in Fuzzy and Ann intelligent controllers to generate switching signals. The performances of the proposed UPQC system are evaluated using Matlab-Simulink software and SimPowerSystem Toolbox under various operation conditions. The simulation results show the performance of the proposed UPQC based on intelligent controllers to improve the power quality in steady and transient conditions operation.</text>
