<text>In recent years, Togo's protected areas have been subject to a worrying process of anthropisation. This has led to a decline in forest ecosystems, their biodiversity and their functions. The general objective of this study is to assess the state of conservation of the classified forest of Amou-Mono between 1986 and 2021. More specifically, it aims to: (i) characterize the dynamics of land use from 1986, 2000, 2013 and 2021 and, (ii) assess the impact of changes in land use on the potential for carbon sequestration. A multi-date classification of Landsat images for the years 1986, 2000, 2013 and 2021 made it possible to quantify and assess changes in occupation. The dynamics of land use between 1986 and 2021 is mainly reflected by a regression of dense/riparian forests (81.40%) and open forests/wooded savannahs (67.79%) and the progression of wooded/shrubby Savannah (172.93%). Anthropogenic formations: Fields/fallow and Agglomerations/Bare soils, absent in 1986, occupy in 2021 respective proportions of 38.1 % and 2.19%. Human activities, particularly logging and agricultural clearing, are causing fragmentation and regression of forest ecosystems. Unless action is taken to reverse the trend, the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem functions in this classified forest will be increasingly threatened.</text>

<text>The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of acid preservatives (AP) and food hydrocolloids (FH) on the shelf life of raw milk at room temperature (between 20 to 25°C). Raw milk samples were treated with different doses of acid preservatives (citric acid: E330 and ascorbic acid: E300) and food hydrocolloids (food agar-agar: E406 and starch: E1400) to determine the optimal dose that could prolong the shelf life of raw milk while maintaining its physicochemical, microbiological, and organoleptic quality. The results showed that the acid preservatives helped preserve the microbiological quality of the milk samples without significant effects on the final pH values. The food hydrocolloids prevented milk coagulation in the presence of acids only when applied at a dose ≤ 0.3 g in 100 mL of milk. Citric acid was more effective than ascorbic acid, while food agar-agar (E406) was the best food hydrocolloid. Acid preservatives and food hydrocolloids can be effective tools for prolonging the shelf life of raw milk at room temperature and improving food safety and nutrition in regions where raw milk preservation is a challenge.</text>

<text>The pastures of northwestern Tunisia have undergone several changes over the last decades. The main results are the decrease in rangelands, the increase in the total animal load, the increase in the cultivated land, the increase in the production costs particularly the purchase of concentrated feeds, and the low subsidies from the state. All these factors are changing the livestock system, mainly dairy cows. The present study, therefore, sought to characterize farm household systems that seem to be currently adapted in the Sejnane plain using a typology. We focus on understanding the variables that contribute to raising farmers' choice of breeding system in the study area. We interviewed 44 farmers. Furthermore, we analyzed their responses using descriptive statistics, ascending hierarchical classification AMP and principal components analysis PCA. The results show that four types of livestock systems could be characterized, depending on pasture and production. Moreover, they suggest that landless pastoralists are more vulnerable than agro-pastoralists.</text>

<text>Ximenia americana, Vitex doniana and Lophira lanceolata are species prized by the populations of the Guinean savannah highlands of Cameroon. They are unfortunately still in the wild where they are subjected to various pressures. From the perspective of the conservation and enhancement of local biodiversity, their domestication appears necessary. The objective of the work is to study the vegetative propagation by air layering of these fruit trees. The experimental device used is a split-split-plot with three repetitions. Species represents the main treatment; the substrates constitute the secondary treatment while the covering of the layers with aluminum foil represents the tertiary treatment. The experimental unit was 30 layers. The rooting rate of layers varies significantly (0.000<0.001) from 48.88±1.89% in Ximenia americana to 81.38±2.08% in Lophira lanceolata. Sphagnum was the best substrate with 69.63±1.38% against 61.66±1.54% for the black soil-sawdust mixture. The analysis of variance reveals a significant difference for the substrates (0.0025<0.01). Covering the layers with aluminum foil presented a rate of 69.44±2.15% while the uncovered layers presented 61.85±1.54%, the analysis of variance shows a significant difference (0,0031<0.01). Lophira lanceolata exhibited the best air layering ability; the rooted layers were weaned and acclimatized for two months before being transferred to the field. During this process 19% and 52% respectively of the layers of Vitex doniana and Ximenia americana flowered. This inexpensive technique is an essential step in the process of their domestication.</text>

<text>The substitution of maize in poultry feed by the incorporation of cassava peel meal is mainly aimed at reducing the production cost of the feed while covering all the nutritional requirements of the hens. This study highlights the nutritional composition of eggs from hens fed a feed containing cassava peel meal. Specifically, the effects of incorporating cassava peel meal at increasing rates on the nutritional value of the hens' eggs were assessed, and subsequently, the presence of hydrocyanic acid in these eggs from the peel was investigated. The meal is incorporated at rates of 0 %, 10 %, 20 % and 30% respectively into chicken feeds. Proximal analyses are performed on 30 eggs from each feed. These eggs contained (7.7-8.4 g/100g) fat, (11.87-12.8 g/100g) protein, (2.2-2.8 g/100g) carbohydrate, (0.3-0.4 g/100g) fiber and (0.83-0.89 g/100g) ash. These contents are similar to those of chicken eggs in general, regardless of the level of incorporation, and the hydrocyanic acid content is almost zero.</text>

<text>In Chlef, the management of urban solid bio-waste is limited to "all in controlled landfill or in wild landfill". This bio-waste can be treated by composting-methanization. With this in mind, two temperature regimes were chosen, the mesophilic regime (35°C) and the thermophilic regime (55°C). The choice of a neutral pH is an optimal value indicating the stability and the good progress of the anaerobic digestion. As well as monitoring the parameters of the composting process. The results of the composting process show that the values of temperature (35°C to 62°C), pH (5 to 8), moisture content (60% and 40%) and percentage of organic matter (74% to 41%) indicate that the fermentation process is going well. The composting process enters the cooling phase after 60th day of fermentation. While the results of the methanization show that a substrate with an organic matter content of 73% causes an accumulation of acids in the digester and a stop of the reaction in mesophilic conditions. Therefore, the thermophilic mode is more suitable for the anaerobic degradation of raw bio-waste. The tests were conclusive in obtaining a flammable biogas. The values of the VFA (Volatile Fatty Acid)/ACT (Alkalimetric Title) ratios below 0.1 show the good functioning of the anaerobic digestion. The methanization of two masses of substrate at the beginning and during the cooling phase of composting allows a gain in residence time, thus a lower energy cost.</text>

<text>The main objective of this work is the study of the effect of the incorporation of a mineral charge, perlite, in a thermosetting matrix based on an unsaturated polyester resin, of the isophthalic resin type, on the mechanical, physical and morphological properties of composite materials containing various rates of minerals, having different dimensions, in particular higher than 50 µm and lower than 50 µm, treated and not treated. The composites were prepared by the contact molding process. The study of the mechanical properties, carried out by determining the stress at break and strain at break, impact resistance and fracture resistance, showed that these properties increase up to 4 % due to the strong affinity between the two components and the good dispersion of the filler; then, decrease when the content of the filler increases which does not allow an adequate dispersion and creates agglomerations that initiate the break. A good correlation was observed between the results of the mechanical tests and the SEM observations, which reveal that for lower concentrations, the perlite particles are well dispersed in the resin, but also the evidence of agglomerations when the filler content increases</text>

<text>The recycling of some of the waste is an important issue and very necessary to protect the environment and provide new sources of supply of raw materials. In this experimental research, a solution is suggested to recover the bulky waste, like the waste tire, in the form of aggregates used in the concrete industry. The work performed consists in incorporating used tires as aggregates by partial replacement of the sand in the preparation of sample mortars using different percentages of substitutions in volume varying from 0% to 50%. Physico-mechanical tests were carried out on the mortar mixes. The results obtained show that the use of waste tires as aggregates in the production of mortars can solve several problems related to their disposal and save natural resources related to the extraction of aggregates. Also, the results found show that the waste tires can be used to produce mortars employed for structural and non-structural applications.</text>
