يعتبر البحث في تاريخ الذهنيات من الأمور الملغزة خاصة في ظل صيام المصادر والمراجع عن الحديث في مثل هذا التاريخ، فهذا النوع من المواضيع يصنف في خانة التاريخ المسكوت عنه، وإن كانت الدراسة الحديثة قد بدأت تعير اهتمامها لهذه المواضيع من خلال تنبيه مدرسة الحوليات الفرنسية، ولم يبق البحث التاريخي في هذا المجال حكرا على المدرسة الحوليات، بل اشتغلت علية المدرسة الايطالية والمدرسة الألمانية، وقد التفتت المدرسة العربية إلى البحث في مثل هذه المواضيع إلا أن البحث فيها بقي محتشما.
وحسب علمنا فإن الحديث عن الموت في المغرب الأوسط لم يحظ بالبحث التاريخي، لكن هذا لا يعني النفي المطلق فباحتكاكنا ببعض المختصين في علم الآثار علمنا أن هناك الكثير من الأثريين الذين يسعون لنفض الغبار عن ما هو متعلق بالموت و متقاطع مع علم الآثار كالبحث عن المقابر و وشواهد القبور، وكذا سعي بعض علماء الأنثروبولوجيا لترميم ثغرات هذا الموضوع حسب ما يتماشى و طبيعة البحث الأنثروبولوجي.
