اهتم الغربيون بدراسة الإسلام، وشخصية النبي محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم منذ وقت مبكر، بدأت بدراسات فردية تحت كنف الكنيسة الكاثوليكية، ثم تحولت إلى جهود مؤسساتيةـ عبر مراحل مختلفة من التاريخ؛ وقد دأب العديد من الباحثين على التأريخ للدراسات الاستشراقية، بداية من الدراسات الحديثة والمعاصرة، بعد أن أصبح للاستشراق مدراس ومؤسساته الخاصة، والحقيقة أن هذا التأطير التاريخي، يبعدنا عن قراءة الواقع المعرفي بأبعاده المختلفة، فبعد الهزة الإبستيمولوجية التي عرفتها العلوم الإنسانية، بات من الضروري إعادة استيعاب ماضي الاستشراق في علاقته بحاضرهـ وانطلاقا من محاولة الانفلات من أطر الدراسات السائدة، حاولنا اختيار التأصيل لإحدى الصورة النمطية عن الإسلام وفق منحاها التطوري التراكمي. فاخترنا موضوع شخصية النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، نظرا لمحوريته في تحديد نسقية الدين الإسلامي، إضافة إلى كونه من أهم المواضيع التي أولاها المستشرقون الكثير من الاهتمام. فكيف تكونت الصورة النمطية عن شخصية النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في الوعي الغربي قديما وحديث؟
أحاول في هذه الكلمات مناقشة مسألة الاستمداد الأسطوري وسريان الأسطورة إلى المفاهيم الثالوثيَّة المسيحيَّة؛ من خلال تتبُّع انعكاس صور تلك المفاهيم في أشكالها وبُناها وصيغها في الفكر الدِّيني السابق على المسيحيَّة؛ وتحديدًا في البيئة التي كانت الحاضنة لنشأة المفاهيم المسيحيَّة عمومًا، والثالوثية خصوصًا. حيثُ تنقل لنا صفحات تاريخ الأديان تأثيرات معتقدات دينية لأمَّةٍ أو حضارةٍ ما في أخرى، وانتقال معتقداتٍ معيَّنة من بيئةٍ لأخرى؛ تتغيَّر الأسماء ربَّما، تتغيَّر أجزاء المفاهيم؛ ولكن الفكرة الدِّينيَّة هي هي. ولذلك سنحاول تتبُّع ذلك في النموذج المدروس من خلال تتبُّع القنوات الناقلة لوعاء الفكرة الدِّينيَّة وتصوُّر المفهوم؛ ورصد الطريقة التعبيريَّة الواردة في النَّص الدِّيني المقدَّس كلَّما كان ذلك ممكنًا.
With these words, I will try to discuss the legendary source of mythology ,and the appliance of myth to Christian Trinitarian concepts by tracing the reflection of these concepts in their forms, structures and forms in pre-Christian religious thought; specifically in the environment that fostered the development of Christian concepts in general and of the Trinity in particular. The scriptures of the history of religions convey the effects of religious beliefs of a nation or civilization through one another, and the transfer of certain beliefs from one environment to another; the names might change; the parts of concepts change could change as well; but the religious idea romains immuable. Therefore, we will try to investigate, fulfilling the steps of the studied model by following the sources conveying the religious idea and conceptualizing the concept; and monitoring the expressive way within the sacred religious text whenever possible
