تمثل البنوك والمصارف الإسلامية نموذجا واعدا لتقديم حلول اقتصادية متعددة لمشاكل العالم المالية، وقد ظهرت الحاجة إليها جلية مع الأزمة المالية العالمية الأخيرة، وهذا ما جعلها محط مزيد اهتمام الباحثين والدارسين لنظام المعاملات المالية المعاصرة من جهة، ورجالات المال والأعمال من جهة أخرى، حتى أصبحت البنوك الإسلامية حديثة النشأة تزاحم كبريات المؤسسات المالية العالمية.
وتلتزم الأبناك الإسلامية بالاحتكام إلى فروع الشريعة وأصولها عند إبرام صفقاتها وعقودها، مع ضرورة الالتزام بقوانين البلد الذي تنشط فيه ومراعاة خصوصياته. وعليه فإنها بنيت على علاقة الشراكة بديلا عن علاقة الدَين، فهي ترفض ضمان رأس المال أي تثبيت الربح، كما أنها تقوم على علاقة المتاجرة بديلا عن علاقة المقامرة، وترفض بيع الوهم وتشترط وجود الأصل عند التعاقد....
وإذا تخلف ضابط من الضوابط السابقة كان شعارها الإسلامي مجرد عباءة زائفة غايتها اصطياد أكبر عدد من رؤوس الأموال الإسلامية لا غير، وذلك بإبرام عقود تكفل لها الربح في جميع الحالات....
